53:   A Tribute to Ph HOF Am Th Ch Canton Bravestar 2005-2011

On March 3, 2011, Bravestar passed away.  Autopsy report says death was due to heart failure.  Dr Raymundo Lo, my dog-friend and the same time a top human pathologist cannot a give a more detailed explanation on the generic cause of heart failure.  It cannot be concluded that this is genetic.

He is a half brother half sister breeding of Gigolo who died at the age of 12.  He is survived by his sire Braveheart(now 12),  and many of his other relatives not limited to half brothers, half sisters, children, nephews/nieces and newly born grandchildren.  He comes from ancestors who have lived long healthy lives.

Bravestar is my only dog that I campaigned to have Philippine Hall of Fame, American Champion and Thailand Champion title.  After Gigolo, he is my winniest and most well known dog.  With his loss, my initial reaction was what now?  But after deep reflection, I can only say that a good breeding program would not be affected by the loss of any one dog.  There would be many others that should fill his place...... but best will be:

...(1) Ph HOF Canton Braveheart, his sire who though 12 years of age still breedable and vet checked to be fertile.

...(2) Ph Ch Canton Black Saracen(Sars), sired by Gigolo and whose dam is a half sister of Bravestar. 

...(3) Ph HOF Canton Moneybox, whose dam is a half sister of Bravestar.

...(4) Ph Ch Canton Black Crescent, a half brother half sister breeding of Gigolo.

...(5) Ph Ch Canton Black Gigolo, a half brother half sister breeding of Gigolo; his dam is the same dam as Bravestar.

...(6) Ph Ch Canton Genghis Khan, his son.

...(7) Ph Ch Canton Radiant Galaxy, his son.

...(8) Ph Ch Canton Jet Li, his son who will finish his Italian title and other foreign titles and will someday be coming back to me for at least one breeding season.

...there would be many others and the list would be endless.

Bravestar has many champion gets and almost a Sire of Merit except for the interrupted show career of one daughter who had to attend to her maternal duties.  We earlier thought she was finished but the official club records showed one lacking single point to her Philippine title.

His other children are just being aged before they start their show career.  Some have recently started their breeding career with some grandchildren on the ground.  Notable are two grandchildren sired by Ph Ch Canton Classic Star, Am Ch CJ Peep I’m Justincredible and Am Ch CJ Peep Feeling Groovy who are now American Champions.

Bravestar will be greatly missed but he will live on through his children, grandchildren... down the line.  His influence will affect not only Pomeranians in the Philippines, but also overseas, presently, US and Italy.
