35: Top Dog in Queensland, Australia

I have just received the following email dated October 27, 2009 from Pam Carpenter of Australia and it reads as follows:

“Hi Basilio

Have exciting news.  Grand Ch. Canton Country Classic won the prestigious Queensland Dog of the Year competition on Saturday night.  To qualify the dog has to win Best in Show at a show nominated by the Canine Control Council (Qld).  Classy won Best in Show early in the and also made sure by qualifying several later show as well.

Lisa handled her for the final and she looked wonderful.  Full coat, moved to perfection and like always showed to perfection.  Phone and emails still have not stopped. The main trophy is trip to Crufts next year all expenses paid.   So Lisa earned that wonderful prize.

I know you will be proud of Classy there was all the top dogs for the State.

Congratulations from all the Carpenters we are very proud of Classy. We appreciate your kindness of  allowing to be a part of our family.  We love her dearly.

Pam”.

In the previous years, I have also been told that Classic has been the Number 1 Pomeranian in Australia and has done lots of winnings.

Pictured below are:  her littermate, Ph HOF Am Ch Canton Curtain Call and her half brother Ph HOF Canton Baby Ruth, who is chocolate factored and will serve as the basis of my chocolate breeding program.

Queensland Top Show Dog 2009

The Queensland Top Show Dog of the year is one of the highlights of the year. To be a part of this great event a dog must qualify by winning a Best In Show at a nominated show or Runner in Show to a dog that has already qualified at a nominated. Classy qualified by winning Runner up in Show in May, then went of the qualify 3 more times.

The event is run as a round robin system, where you move up though the rounds. Four All Breeds Judges are chosen by a committee and introduced on the night. In each round three of the judges, judge each dog and vote on the dog that is to continue though to the next round. This system is the same as a Tennis Match. In the final the two dogs from each side of the draw compete.

This year’s Dog of the year was judged on 24th October by Mr T Collicutt (Tas), Ms Lynne Haywood (Vic), Mr John Shepard (NSW) and Mrs D Clark (NZ). This is a evening event and is started with Puppy of the year during the day then followed by Dinner and the main event of Dog of the year.

The winner of Dog of the year wins a return trip to England, 1 week’s accommodation and a trip to Crufts.

The final two dogs in this year’s event was last years winner the Suluki Gr Ch Ahmadi Hiwayman and the Pomeranian Grand Champion Canton Country Classic (Imp Phil)

This year’s winner is … Australian Grand Champion Canton Country Classic (Imp Phil)

It is a honor to win this prestigious event and is one of the highlights of our show career

Thank you to Canton Pomeranians for this wonderful show dog.
